Eddie V's, Austin Arboretum
Eddie V's Austin - Arboretum is one of two locations for Eddie V's in Austin, the other one is on 5th street downtown. We had been to the one downtown as well as the one in Chicago before. We never had been to the one at the Arboretum but it was close to our hotel so we decided to check it out. I thought all three rated 5 stars but Paula did not like the one at the Arboretum as much as the other two. She says it may be that we had meat at the Arboretum and she is having a "less meat" episode.
We sat at the bar, as usual. The bartender was very attentive to our needs. He even offered to split our meals and put them on one plate when we told him we were going to share. The restaurant manager even came up and asked us if there was anything we needed.
The inside of Eddie V's was crowded as you would expect. When you have such good food and a happy hour, how can you not have a crowd. Happy Hour is 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday - Saturday. Monday it is from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m.
Paula and I enjoyed the bar and the restaurant as a whole.
For the starter, we had the Shrimp And Crab Chopped Salad with avocado, heirloom tomatoes, blue cheese and candied walnuts. It was very good. We would definitely order it again.
For the main course, we had the Filet Medallions, Oscar Style with Jumbo Lump Crab, Asparagus and Béarnaise. As I said earlier, the bartender offered to split the order and bring it out on two plates once we told him we were going to share. Again, it was very, very good.
Eddie V's is a great restaurant. We have been to three, two in Austin and one in Chicago. The service is great and the food is better than that.
